Friday after work I got together with some friends and played a nerdy roleplaying game called Descent (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Descent:_Journeys_in_the_Dark). Then we watched Zombieland and played another game called Last Night on Earth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_Night_on_Earth:_The_Zombie_Game). I told them I wanted to be in bed by 12 so I could wake up well for work the next day. Yeah, that didn't happen. I hit the sack around 1:45, I think, and was at work at 8:30 on Saturday.

Saturday morning when I woke up, I found a letter on my desk from the Binder Park Zoo, at which I've been trying to volunteer for maybe two years now. I finally got the letter about two weeks ago and forgot about it. Unfortunately the volunteer orientation meeting was at 1pm on Saturday and at the zoo, which is 40 minutes east of my workplace, where I was scheduled to be until 12:45. BUT my boss is mostly kind when it comes to scheduling (though there are some major exceptions that I think are actually outside of her jurisdiction) and she allowed for me to leave around 12:20. I changed and zipped out (tearing a sock on the way :( ), grabbing some Wendy's on the way over to Battle Creek. I got there a little bit late, but it wasn't too big of a deal. I need to figure out whether volunteering at the zoo is a good or bad idea. Here are some related thoughts:

If I want to achieve the things I most want out of life, I need to be serious about building my business. Otherwise I will not ever be able to visit the family as much as I'd like, especially now that this family lives on two coasts!
I have a tendency to spread out my focus ("spray") so that I am participating in many different things in the same period of time, thus preventing myself from doing any one or two things very well and giving those things the attention they deserve.

This is getting too long. I will wrap up:
-After the orientation, I went to my friends' house and learned how to use Jen's sewing machine
-Then I went to worship practice
-After worship, I returned to my friends' house and continued my lesson

-On Sunday, I went to church at 7:40 to practice again for worship and then lead worship for two services until about 12:30
-In the afternoon I "finished" my Link (from the Zelda games) costume in preparation for my mentor's surprise birthday part for which we were told to dress up as a Super Smash Bros. Brawl character
-I went to the party, watched the superbowl, laughed my face off, and got home after 12.

The End.
